Vintage DIY Spice Rack

May 31, 2017

If you’re looking for a shabby-chic and easy way to organize your spices, this is the perfect solution!! I’ve gotten so many compliments on my Coca-Cola spice crate that I thought it would be the perfect DIY project to share (ahem, I can’t take the credit on this one – I saw it at one of my friend’s apartments and was dying to replicate it)! You can leave it on display in your kitchen, or even hang it on the inside of your pantry door to keep it hidden.

Here’s how to build your very own:

  1. Find a vintage crate, which is actually easier than it sounds. They are EVERYWHERE right now. Any flea market will have them – you just have to know what to look for! Mine came with the original Coca-Cola glass bottles, so I put those aside for another rainy day. In the event you can’t get to a flea market, you can find them on Etsy, but they will be a little more expensive than bargaining for a good deal at your local vintage markets.

2. Purchase your glass spice jars. My friend recommended these square ones from Amazon and they worked out perfectly. I bought 2 packs of 6 bottles, and although they were a little expensive, it was totally worth it. The glass is super easy to clean and they look so much nicer than any plastic container.

3. Find a spice label template that you love (but make sure it fits your jar lids accordingly). I’ve included my templates for FREE to download here:

4. Purchase your self-adhesive labels. These 1.5″ inch white, round labels from Office Depot work nicely with my template. You’ll just need to put the label sheets into the printer, hit “print” on your label template and voila!! You’ll have beautiful, new labels to stick to the top of your jars. (TIP: I printed a few of my labels on normal paper to figure out the correct way to insert the label paper into the printer. That way, you won’t waste your label paper.)

I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I don’t know who you are but definitely you are going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already 😉 Cheers!
