Dress Up if you DARE: Halloween Costumes 101

October 17, 2017

“I haven’t dressed up for Halloween since college!” – Laura

As much as we love fall, we both admit that we aren’t 100% into Halloween. It requires so much effort to think of a good costume. And then to execute it can actually cost a small fortune! Below are some of our favorite costume ideas that will hopefully inspire you to get into the Halloween spirit! And you never know, maybe this is the year we’ll see Laura all dressed up! 🙂

Best Friend Costumes

Twins from The Shining

I bet you could have guessed we’d be sharing a best friend costume idea first 🙂 Have you ever been told you look like your bestie? We get that all of the time, so why not take advantage of it! I mean….we’re obsessed with this idea. These girls are freaky, but still super adorable and affordable, because all of these clothes can definitely be worn again. We couldn’t link the barrettes in the widget below, but you can buy them from Amazon here.

Dancing Girls Emoji

Let’s face it. We use this emoji pretty much every single day, so it would definitely be a recognizable costume to girls everywhere. So cute, and you probably already have the majority of this costume in your closet!

Couples Costumes

Tooth Fairy & Dentist

Lauren Conrad looked beautiful in her homemade Tooth Fairy costume, and we just think this is the cutest idea for a couple (especially if one of you is a dentist in real life)! If you don’t have the time or the skills to create your tooth fairy costume from scratch (because we sure don’t), we think this tulle skirt would pair nicely with a white top (from your closet), and finish the look off with a ‘teeth bag,’ fairy wings and a beautiful shimmery face 🙂

Lola & Bugs

Andrew and I dressed up as Lola and Bugs a few years ago, and it was a total hit. All you really need for this look is the Tunes Squad jerseys, and some face paint. Just throw on your Converse, grab a basketball, and you’re ready to hit the town. If you want to go all out like Andrew did, you can buy the Secret Stuff water bottle here.

Solo Costume

The Morton Salt Girl

Lauren has been wanting to dress up as the Morton Salt girl for so long. It’s such an iconic costume, and she already owns a bright yellow dress that she bought a few years ago at Urban Farmgirl. Maybe this will be the year!

Family Costumes

Fred, Wilma, and Bam Bam

Although these costumes have been done many times before, they never get old. Wouldn’t Griff be such a cute Bam Bam?!

Toy Story Crew

This idea is perfect if you have a big family because the characters are limitless! Check out Amazon for all the costume ideas.

Space/Futuristic Family

If you’re a die hard Halloweenie, and you have kids that are really into outer space, then this is the costume for you. It requires a lot of DIY’ing, but honestly…it’s the coolest thing we’ve seen in a long time. Check out all the details here.
