Alright ladies (and men!), this is probably not the first time you’re hearing about this company. Monat has literally taken over the social media world, and the hair care industry in just a short matter of time. If it’s not the before and after pictures that’ll have you gawking, it’s the studies, and scientific proof that this stuff works. And the kicker? The products are safe for your hair!
Truth be told, I have never cared about my hair routine. Until Monat, I was using Head & Shoulders for the last 15+ years (GASP!) and I’d never put a single product in my hair. The thought of all that “extra” stuff made showering sound exhausting. Well, come to find out, that store bought shampoo has sulfate in it (most do!) and I was just ruining my hair by the day. Yep, I said “by the day.” My second mistake. I was washing my hair everyday with that stuff! I swore there was no way I could skip a day because my hair would get so greasy. What I didn’t know was that I had to train my hair.
Enter Monat. And the “detox.” I started using it last July 2017. The first few days were great. My hair was so shiny! THEN, it began. My hair started to feel greasy and weighted down. I immediately reached out to my distributor and told her I wasn’t liking the product. It’s almost like she knew this was coming. She casually got back to me and assured me this was all very normal. She told me to stick it out, and that once I was out of this phase, I would see what she meant. I still wasn’t convinced, but I continued using it nonetheless.
Fast forward to November/December. My hair was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Thicker, shinier, longer, non-faded…it was unreal. YES, longer! It makes your hair grow like crazy. After having Griffin, I developed a ton of baby hairs around my face and ears. Literally, I had side burns, lol. This has helped grow those obnoxious pieces out so they are slowly blending back into my normal hair, and fast. You might be thinking that my detox lasted a long time, and you’re right, IT DID! But, remember my years of using Head & Shoulders? I had LOTS of buildup to get rid of. Now that I’m more educated, it all made sense.
Not only was I noticing it, but people around me were too! I was getting compliments left and right, and even my hairdresser noticed a difference. My color lasted longer, and my hair wasn’t needing a haircut as soon. I loved it so much that I even convinced Lauren to jump on board! See her thoughts below.
What I use every wash/day:
Revive or Renew Shampoo – I started with the Revive for more volume, and now I am trying the Renew, which is just for the average hair. Most people use this one! I love both. The key to using the shampoo is making sure you wash your hair twice, and leaving it on for 2 minutes before rinsing. You just need a dime size (yep, that’s all!) each wash. Note: the first wash will have no suds. Weird, I know. But that second one? Whoa – it’s like a foam party up in your shower-ha!
Revitalizing or Leave-in Conditioner – The first is your typical conditioner that you apply after your shampoo (no need to wait 2 min), while the leave-in is something you apply once you get out. I use both because there are days when my hair is super tangly, so it’s easier just to spray the conditioner on right before I brush (especially during my detox).
Rejuvabeads – This is the magic sauce! 3 pumps of this cream to your wet ends instantly cures your split ends right in front of your eyes! Don’t believe me? Check out the video I’ve linked here.
Blow Out Cream – Literally feels like you’re got a blow out, making your hair so smooth and lessens your blow dry time! I put a nickel size amount and rub it all over my head after I use the Rejuvabeads and before I blow dry.
Eye Wonder – I use this on my lashes and brows to help condition and strengthen them, which in turn makes them longer and fuller. Remember, these products are all natural, so they’re safe for around your eyes. I’ve noticed such a difference with my little lashes…I actually look like I have some now!
What I use weekly:
Replenish Masque – I only use this hydrating mask 1-2x a week, while I’m in the shower after I’ve shampoo’d, in place of my conditioner. Leave it on for 5 minutes, and your hair is extremely soft. It makes brushing through it SO easy too! Not only does it nourish your hair, but it reduces hair thinning.
Dry Shampoo – Need I say more? This is the BEST one on the market in my opinion. It smells amazing! This is what I use in between my wash days for some oomph!
Rejuvenate Oil – There are 100+ ways to use this oil. I won’t go into them all, but my favorite are to mix a drop with my face moisturizer, use as a pre-shampoo treatment or as a finishing oil I use on my ends before I walk out the door. It has 13+ natural plant and essential oils in it to help nourish your skin and hair.
Lauren’s Experience:
“I started using Monat at the very end of January. Right away, the lack of soap suds made me skeptical. How could this shampoo work if there were no suds when I massaged my head?! A weird concept for sure, but it works!
My baby hairs have grown in where I was missing a lot of them before. And even though I feel like my hair is still in that greasy, detox stage, I’m sticking with it because I know how beautiful Laura’s hair looks now!
My fav products (besides shampoo and conditioner) are the blow out cream and dry shampoo!! Both do wonders for my hair :)”
FAQ’s:
Is it expensive? Yes, but it lasts forever! And, it’s made me have to get my hair done less frequently. So in turn, I’ve actually saved money by using these products.
Would I use what you use? Not necessarily! Everyone’s hair types, and concerns are different. There’s literally a Monat product for every person, no matter if their hair is dry, brittle, damaged, thinning…you name it. That means you too, gentlemen!
How long is the average detox? That’s all over the board as well. As I described above, mine was a lot longer then the average person due to what I was using before. Some people love it after the first shampoo, and never show any signs of detox. Others detox for the full 90 days or more. You have to commit though. Try it out for 3 months, and I promise that you will see the changes you desire!
Do I need all those products? Nope! You can use as little or as many as you’d like. The most important are the shampoo and conditioner. The others are just great options to use in conjunction with those products to make them work even better.
How do I order? Surprise! I became so obsessed with the products, and was telling everyone about them anyway, I decided to dive in as a Market Partner and share my love with my close family and friends…and now you! You can order Monat directly here, or email me at lauraharcar@gmail.com with any questions before ordering.
If you still aren’t convinced, here’s a few before and afters to WOW you over 🙂 x0x0 -Laura
What did you do to get through the long detox ?! My hair feels awful but I can feel my hair growing and I’m trying not to give u! Last week I gave in and did a couple washes with my biolage which looking back is obviously not helping the situation !
We know it’s SO hard to stick to it in the beginning, but we promise it’s worth it! It took us a few months (2-4) to feel back to normal! Your hair probably feels a lot worse than it looks to most people, so just keep that in mind. 🙂
Your experience is mine to a tee!! Head and Shoulder for YEARS. But I’m still in the “transition stage” with oily/waxy hair being the main thing, and I’m in my 6th month. Still holding out hope and in fact have told myself I’m just detoxifying from the years of H&S and just found your blog post tonight. I’m probably going to give it a year (but hopefully see the light at the end of the tunnel soon!!)… and you’re so right, I’m sure I notice it more than other people do. Thanks for sharing! 💕
Aw good, we’re so glad to hear from you Sam! Hang in there, we promise it gets better, it definitely takes awhile but worth the wait!!
THIS IS GREAT!!
I started using Monat in June but didn’t start having those “detox” symptoms until September and they’re still there :/ is this normal? Every time I wash my hair it always feels greasy immediately after and always feels like there’s product buildup (always get terrible build up on my comb before and after showering). I use renew shampoo and leave in conditioner and I’ve stopped using other products like the curl cream or air dry cream because I’m afraid they’re adding to the build up. Is this just normal detox?
Hey Maddie! Yes, it can take awhile, depending on how much buildup was in your hair previously. Stick with it for a few more months and see it through!!
