**Check out the 2019 Farm Dinners Schedule Here**
A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to attend a full-on, farm to table dinner, hosted at Heritage Prairie Farm, which is just a 20 minute drive from DeKalb. And the night was nothing short of AH-MAZING!! HPF puts on these dinners once a month to celebrate the seasonal themes happening on their farm —heirloom, roots, and honey. Since it’s August, the theme for our night was Honey & Beer, because August is when the honey harvest occurs! Everything was done to perfection, from the food to the decor, we felt like we were at a fancy wedding. Side note – if you’re looking for a venue to get married at, this is at the top of our list (check out their weddings here).
The Farm Tour
The night started off with appetizers and a farm tour with Farmer Nate, which allowed us to see exactly where all the food we were about to divulge in, is grown and cared for. Heritage Prairie Farm is a USDA Certified Organic Farm that grows vegetables and microgreens – how cool right?! These monthly Farm Dinners give them a chance to share their delicious produce with friends, like us! Not to mention, we all got to play with their cute little goats.
The Dinner
After our tour and scrumptious appetizers, we head into cocktail hour where the band carried the mood and people were mingling, getting ready to sit down to dinner. All the beer throughout the night was supplied by Solemn Oath, a local brewery in Naperville. Not only do you get a complimentary drink when you arrive, but they filled the tables at dinner with different types of beers for everyone to share. It was such a fun idea so that you could try every beer without overindulging (to some extent)!
We both agreed this would be a perfect date night if you’re celebrating a special occasion with your friends or family. The tickets are a little on the pricey side at $90/person, but we SWEAR it’s worth every penny. Sometimes you need an excuse to get out, and if you don’t have any events planned, this is what we’d recommend spending your money on. Hands down.
By the end of the night, we’d met a few new friends and went home with very full, happy tummies. The entire car ride home we discussed when we could go back again with our husbands! If you’re interested in attending one of these dinners, check out their upcoming schedule here, and tell them the ladies from Laur Lore sent you! 🙂
