Hi friends! I figured it’s been awhile since I announced I was pregnant, so I wanted to give you an update on how things are going. I’m officially 30 weeks and finally in the home stretch of pregnancy. I won’t lie, sleeping has gotten pretty rough and I’m uncomfortable all the time, but it’s all worth it knowing we get to meet our little person very soon.
Since we don’t know if we’re having a boy or girl, I’ve started decorating the nursery in neutral colors, which I love, and can’t wait to share with you closer to March! It’s also been really fun having friends and family guess whether they think we’re having a boy or girl. I’ve heard ‘girl’ because I was so sick in the beginning or ‘boy’ because I carry more in my stomach than anywhere else. We go back and forth every day! We even had our families place their bets online with Baby Bookie, so we could see who’s right in the end (maybe they’ll win the prize of babysitting for parents night out – ha)! I’ve had two dreams that very vividly portray a little boy in our life. What do you guys think?!
Keep reading below for a quick recap of the trimesters thus far, and my favorite items that got me through each stage! xoxo – lauren
First Tri Sickness
As most of you know, we didn’t have the easiest time getting/staying pregnant (read about it here), so once I was about three months into my first trimester, I was so excited to have made it that far, that my morning sickness almost made me smile! Almost. Yes, I was one of those pregnant girls that got morning sickness (consider yourself lucky if you didn’t experience this). Every day for my entire first trimester, I would wake up, pretend like I was going to make it to the gym and instead, run to the bathroom to give the toilet a nice, big hug.
I truly didn’t believe morning sickness was a real thing, but I was CLEARLY mistaken – ha. I got sick every single morning around 7am like clockwork. I’d barely get through the work day on saltines and ginger ale (not sure how my co-workers didn’t figure something was going on at that point), come home and fall asleep on the couch until it was time to eat more saltines, and then go back to bed. I was miserable to say the least. A few of my sweet friends sent gifts, like preggie pops and caffeine-free energy mixes (linked below), which were absolute lifesavers!
Second Tri – Best Tri
It’s true what they say – the second trimester is the BEST trimester. You have your full energy back and feel like yourself again. I was going to the gym and eating healthy, I felt amazing! Andrew and I also took our babymoon during this time, and I’d highly recommend doing the same. You don’t feel SO pregnant that you can’t enjoy yourself, but just pregnant enough that you deserve it.
I have nothing bad to say about this trimester….I already want it back. It’s definitely a good time to start reading some books (this one was my favorite) and buying a few maternity clothes that will grow with your bump. It’s also the perfect time to start your registry! I used Babylist, which allows you to find items from any website and pull them all into one place, it’s so easy! After the new year, I’ll share my own registry woes (talk about overwhelming!!) and my favorite items for you new mamas to add to your baby registry.
The Beginning of the Third Tri
This is when it gets hard, but also rewarding because you get to feel those daily kicks growing stronger and stronger! I swear, this baby doesn’t sleep and kicks 24/7…not sure what that means, other than baby must be getting antsy to meet us! If you saw my recent Insta Story the other day, I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping and had held out on getting that body pillow because I wasn’t sure it would actually help me sleep. BIG MISTAKE!! I just got it in the mail and I’m already obsessed with it. I took a nap and slept so well with it twisted around my body (and it was only $40 – shop here), I never want to give it up! If you’re looking for maternity clothes for the last trimester, be sure to check out Pink Blush! They have the BEST variety of clothing, from baby shower dresses to even delivery robes!
The big things on my to-do list these last few months are to finish up the nursery, get showered by my friends (hosted by Laura of course), pack my hospital bag – I’ll be using Laura’s blog post for advice on this one – and enjoy my sleep as much as I can. Life is going to change pretty quick, but we’re so ready for this next adventure.
Lauren this is beautiful! I’m so happy for you and your family. Love ya girl! ❤️
