Lauren’s Top 10 Baby Registry Products

January 24, 2019

Welcome back, friends! Today, I’m giving you a sneak peak into my baby registry by sharing my top ten items that I’m MOST excited about receiving!! Granted, I know that these ten items might change once the baby is here and I begin using them, HOWEVER, I’ve heard amazing things about all of these products, so I’m pretty confident they’ll work out. In fact, most everything on my registry was recommended by one of my existing mama friends or mamas-to-be that did their homework. Let’s be honest, how else would we all get through this crazy process!? Friends are the best.

If you’re anything like Laura and myself, then you’ll probably find items that you want to register for across the internet (not just BuyBuyBaby), so we highly recommend using babylist.com to register. It’s so easy to use and you can save all your items in one place without having to individually register at the big box stores. Enjoy my top ten items below, and feel free to leave a comment or question – we’re happy to help (everything is shoppable via the links throughout the post or at the bottom)! xoxo – lauren

Lauren’s Top 10 Baby Registry Products

1. Stroller & Car Seat

These are, hands down, the biggest baby purchases you’ll make, so I can’t stress how important doing your research is! We looked into a few different options and after much debating, it came down to the City Select ‘Baby Jogger’ Stroller or the UPPABaby Vista Stroller. We liked that both options provided the ability to have two kids in the stroller at once – let’s be honest, if I’m spending this much on a stroller, I want to plan for the future!

Ultimately, we thought the UPPABaby was the most lightweight and portable for city living. We live on the third floor with no elevator, so Andrew and I were most concerned with ease of use. The car seat also clips into the stroller if baby is sleeping and you don’t want to wake them up when transporting from one place to another. The undercarriage of the stroller is also big enough to stockpile groceries if needed (I’ve seen it for myself). I chose the Jordan Charcoal Grey color in both the stroller and car seat for reference.

2. DockATot Deluxe

All my new momma friends have the DockATot and LOVE it. It’s a comfy and safe place to put the baby for lounging, cuddling, or tummy time, and it comes in multiple colors/patterns! Keep in mind, this product is only recommended for babies 0-8 months old, however, they do have the “grand” size, which works for kids up until they’re 3 years old. Seriously, I want to sleep in this thing.

3. Sleeper Swing

I chose the Rock n’ Play swing over the most popular 4moms mamaRoo option for one reason. It’s much more portable! I want to be able to take this to and from our parents or friends house as needed, so it seemed like the very best option for us. No matter which one you choose, the baby will enjoy the rocking or swinging motion, that’s a guarantee. 🙂

4. Cloth Diapers

Okay, I don’t claim to be an environmentalist by any means, BUT I do try to do my part when I can. Some people will roll their eyes when they read this, but I’m going to give cloth diapers a try. Remember most of our parents were raised in cloth diapers…that was the only option they had back then! So what changed? I actually look forward to this #clothdiaper challenge because everyone claims it’s extremely difficult! Is it difficult, gross or maybe just inconvenient? I’m not sure, but I will find out and report back! Another fellow blogger that I love and respect, Fashion Veggie, wrote an entire article about cloth diapers that I highly suggest reading if you want to learn more. She recommends the Rumparooz (shown below), along with a toilet sprayer, so you can easily spray the poo into the toilet before tossing the diaper into the wash.

If I’ve convinced you to hop on the cloth diaper train, you’ll probably want to buy 10-12 of them to start (this will get you through one day). It is a big investment but think about how much money and trash you can save over time! And in case you were wondering, no, I will not be using cloth diapers full-time – that’s just unrealistic with traveling and work, so I will also be buying Bambo disposable diapers as well. Always go with the eco-friendlier option when you have the choice!

5. Portable High Chair

How cool is this portable high chair? It’s exactly like the tailgating chairs that you probably already own, only for the baby! One of my girlfriends brought this for her 1 year old to Friendsgiving, and we were all instantly obsessed. It’s super easy to clean and you can take it anywhere without it being a hassle (or having to worry about connecting it to a table). You can even keep it in the car since it folds up so nicely.

6. Diaper Bag

I had a hard time choosing a diaper bag because both Freshly Picked and Fawn (the top two brands) have beautiful, practical bags (Laura has the Fawn and loves it as well). Ultimately, I decided I liked the look of the Fawn bag better, and it’s also made out of vegan leather, which is a huge plus. You can wear it like a backpack or sling it over your shoulder for more of a purse. I highly recommend reading the reviews before buying a bag like this. I found them super helpful!

7. Baby Monitor

Andrew and I did a lot of research on our baby monitor. We got mixed reviews on EVERYTHING we found, so we decided to just go with our gut, which led us to the Infant Optics Video Baby Monitor. We’ve heard the video is just as clear during the night as it is day, and the zoom feature allows you to get up close and personal on the baby. Plus, it does NOT rely on WiFi to work. I don’t know about you guys, but our WiFi goes in and out all of the time, and I’m not dealing with that crap at 2am!!

8. Cuddle & Kind Doll

Cuddle & Kind Dolls were on our holiday gift guide this past season for a few reasons. They are adorable AND you can feel good about buying one!! When you purchase a doll, you’re also giving ten meals to children in need. How amazing is that? My favorite one that I registered for is Avery the Lamb, I thought it was the most gender neutral option, plus I love the lamb’s little jumper.

9. Nursing Pillow

Have you ever heard of “My Brest Friend” Nursing Pillow? Because I sure hadn’t. The name alone intrigues me, ha, but a few of my friends swear by this pillow. They like it better than the Boppy because you can strap it around your waist, it has pockets, and most importantly, it’s very firm. For newborns, I can see how this would be better than the Boppy because the baby won’t sink into the pillow and they’ll stay put right where you want them. I registered for both, since the Boppy is still nice to have for when guests visit.

10. The Baby Shusher Soother

This is a classic and a non-negotiable item that needs to be on your registry. The Baby Shusher replicates that “shushing” sound that all babies hear in the womb and calms them down. I’ve heard this works miracles over any other sound machine, plus it’s portable so you can take it everywhere with you! Maybe I’ll buy two….just in case I accidentally leave one somewhere. I’m afraid to be without this thing!

Laura wrote a post about her top ten baby items, you can check out here (you’ll find some of the same items on our both our lists). Before I go, here are also a few things not to register for (because you’ll get so many of them without even asking): clothes, blankets, books, and stuffed animals (besides the Cuddle & Kind doll, of course).

Cloth diapering mama over here! It’s definitley not as bad as people try to make it out to be and if you plan on breastfeeding washing the diapers the first 6 months is the easiest. But I do suggest trying different brands before you commit to one. Grovia is a fan favorite in this house. Good luck! You’ve got this!

Love this piece of advice, I think will end up buying a few different brands and see what I like best. Thank you for the GroVia idea,I’ll add that to the list!!
