Ahhh, it’s finally apple picking season (and family photo season)!! There are so many good orchards to visit in the surrounding DeKalb County area, but hands down my favorite place to go with or without the kiddos is Jonamac Orchard. Which is why we are featuring them for my fall Hometown Spotlight this year! I will tell you a little bit more about the orchard below, but first I want to talk about our amazing experience with Cristina from Cristina Hope Photography. She captured the most beautiful moments of our family, even though it was almost 100 degrees outside and the kids were not exactly in the best moods.
Cristina is a professional maternity, newborn and family photographer in the Chicagoland area and her photos are GORGEOUS. She offers a really unique experience that we were both super impressed by. Not only does she take your portraits, but she will help you style your outfits for the session (if you’d like), and then once your photos are ready, she will physically sit with you to review choose the best ones to print and hang in your space. Part of the reason she offers this such a unique, cool service is because she lost all of her son’s baby photos after only storing them on her computer and doesn’t want that to happen to anyone else! Crazy, right!? You can see more investment details here. She was absolutely wonderful to work with.
Jonamac Orchard
Jonamac Orchard has been around for years (started in the 80s), it’s a three generational family farm in a small town called Malta. Over the years, it’s grown into a massive tourist attraction for all of us Northern Illinois folks! They have over 20,000 apple trees consisting of more than thirty different varieties!!
Not to mention, they have a ton of activities for the kids. Everything from a corn maze, pony rides, a petting zoo, an apple train (we love this one), a jumping pillow and much, much more. Moms and dads, there is also a brand new Cider House in case you need a quick break from all the activities. 🙂
We’ve been coming to Jonamac for as long as I can remember. We have some very fond memories of the haunted corn maze (starting Oct 2nd), and let’s just say it’s worth every penny. It’s really SCARY!!
Their fall festival days are now in full force and you can buy tickets on their website for just $5 admission (kids 2 and under are free), but it does cost a little extra per activity once you’re in (not much). They also have Covid guidelines in place so you can feel safe as you walk around with your family! I really hope you will all visit Jonamac this season and you’ll easily see why we love it so much!!
