…& no it doesn’t grow back darker & thicker. That is a myth. The hair you have on your face will grow back exactly the same. The peach fuzz hair will grow back as peach fuzz.
Why Shave Your Face?
Ok, so let’s set the record straight. I don’t have a beard, or a mustache. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) However, I still shave my face even though the hair isn’t super prominent. Although Garin often likes to points out a black hair on my chin when we’re in the car, and the sun is shining on my face. Ugh.
Anywho, did you know Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Cleopatra all shaved their face? This isn’t a new thing ladies! Most of Hollywood is doing it too, so why can’t I?
Perks
While you’ve probably heard more myths then anything, here are the reasons why shaving your face is genius:
- Makes your makeup go on smoother
- Gives you glowing skin
- Exfoliates your skin TONS
- Anti-aging
- Absorbs your skin products better
- Cheaper then Dermaplaning
- Not painful like waxing
How-To
As Popsugar says: “Pull the skin taut, then start shaving downward on your skin in short strokes. You can’t just drag the razor against your skin — it wouldn’t do anything. Also, hold the razor at a 45-degree angle against the skin. Don’t freak when it looks like you skinned a lamb. You have more hair on your face than you think!”
Other tips:
- I suggest shaving once a week
- A men’s razor also works (use with a creamy cleanser)
- Use your face regimen or a moisturizer/face oil post shave (try this)
- Clean your razor with rubbing alcohol between sessions
- Avoid moles and pimples…AND you’re eyebrows. Good lord, don’t shave them off!
- These are the razors I use, and they are awesome, AND CHEAP!
Shaving is not for everyone. Maybe laser hair removal may be a better solution for you? For me, shaving my face works amazingly!
If your nervous to DIY, you can go for a dermaplaning treatment, which is basically a fancy name and version of shaving your face Got more questions? Ask away in the comments! Interested in my makeup routine and how-to? Click here.
