Live gently upon this earth.
As of February 1st this year, EVERY store in Chicago (I’m talking clothing stores included) began charging $0.07 per grocery bag as part of the new Chicago grocery bag tax initiative. I can’t say I disagree with the idea of getting more people to use reusable grocery bags. I’m sure if our landfills and trash dumps could talk, they would agree with me too. Even though this tax is only for the Chicago area, don’t stop reading now!! No matter where you live, you can still do your part to be green. Let’s say you go to the stores a few times a week (don’t forget, this includes grabbing a few things at Walgreens, buying a new top at Forever 21, or visiting a local boutique), you could probably end up with around 6-8 bags that you end up throwing away. Although this is only an extra $25 a year (roughly), why not spend that money on a few, beautiful bags that are environment friendly, AND you can look cute while carrying them!? It’s a win-win for you AND our earth. We have some cute tote bag ideas for you, and they are all super affordable. Now for the hard part…once you buy them, don’t forget to bring them to the store! Be clean and become green, Chicago!
