Ok, so how cute are these? How cute would these be for Valentine’s Day? With a cute tag attached that says “I love you beary much!” or “You are beary special!” Adorbs. We wanted to try our hand at them first before making them again at the end of the month for Griffin’s class. They’re having a Teddy Bear Picnic, and these are perfect!

    Teddy Bear Oatmeal Cookies

    Yield: 8 bears

    INGREDIENTS:

    • ½ C. butter, softened
    • 1 C. flour
    • ½ C. sugar
    • ½ tsp. baking soda
    • ½ C. brown sugar (I used Truvia Brown Sugar Blend)
    • ½ tsp. salt
    • 1 egg
    • ¾ tsp. ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
    • 1 ½ C. quick-cooking rolled oats
    • Plain M&M’s for the nose (or I used the Ghirardelli 60% cacao larger chocolate chips)
    • Mini M&M’s for the eyes (or I used raisins)

    DIRECTIONS:

    • To make cookie dough:
    • In a medium mixing bowl, beat butter, sugar and brown sugar on medium speed until blended. Beat in egg; stir in vanilla.
    •  In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; add to butter mixture, blending until incorporated. Stir in oats until blended. Shape dough and bake according to project directions.
    • To make Oatmeal Bears:
    • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Shape cookie dough into six 1 1/4″ balls for the bear head. Do not use all of the cookie dough.
    • For each bear head ball, shape three 1/2″ balls for the ears and snout.
    • Roll a third of the small balls in sugar.
    • Flatten the cookie dough heads. We used the bottom of a wet glass to do this.
    • Place three of the smaller cookie dough balls on each larger, flattened piece, making two ears and a snout. Use the pieces dipped in sugar for the snout.
    • Carefully flatten the smaller balls.
    • Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
    • Remove from oven and place 1 plain M&M on the snout to form a nose and two mini M&M’s towards the center to form eyes.
    • Serve and enjoy!
