    a VERY kind Christmas 2018

    December 12, 2018

This year’s holiday theme is all about going back to the basics. So often, we find ourselves wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of it all. And we often forget the reason for the season. But, not this time! We’re changing our mindsets, and truly focusing on kindness.

Kindness is one of the best gifts you can give someone. Your words and actions go such a long way! But are you doing it as much as you’d like? We too are guilty as charged. But today, we’re sharing some ways to bring joy to your family and friends this Christmas without breaking the bank, and bringing a smile to their face.

    Homemade Wrapping Paper

Not only did we go back to the basics with our holiday spirit, but you’ll notice we took a very “black and white” approach to the season as well. We really wanted the presents under the tree to be secondary to the beautiful bulbs and ornaments that light up the home. Plus, we wanted to wrap each gift uniquely for the special person receiving it.

Wrap the gifts in white Kraft paper, and secure with a beautiful ribbon of your choice. Grab a Sharpie and get writing!

    Words of Affirmation Ornaments

Not only will these ornaments look fabulous on the tree, but they double wonderfully as a personalized gift tag that won’t get thrown away. We suggest these shatterproof balls, so you don’t make the mistake we did. What a mess!

Some of our favorite sayings included “PRETTY (on the inside)” and “Smile…for goodness sake!” Note: we used a Sharpie, and there was no smearing. It would be fun to use different colors too! Or a colored ornament with a white marker too.

    DIY Apparel

We’re super excited to share this cute gift idea! Share it to wear it this Christmas!! We found these iron-on letters that look embroidered, and are super easy to apply with your iron. They are available in different colors, and can be applied to most items. We chose a jean jacket as a fun alternative, and easy layering piece for any outfit. Other great ideas include a tote bag, hat, or sweatshirt. We love the idea of gifting a denim jacket like this to a tween or young girl.

Caution: be sure to cover the letters with a towel to iron over, or else you’ll burn the fabric!

Only 13 days until Christmas! What will you do this year to make a difference? Or bring a smile to someone you love? If you’re local to the DeKalb/Sycamore area, we’d love to see you on Saturday, December 22nd at Inboden’s Meat Market as we ring the bell for Salvation Army (we’ll be there from 10:30 – 12:30 PM). We hope you can get back to the basics too this holiday season, and find the joy that the season brings.

    xoxo,

    Laura & Lauren
