Valentine’s Day: Gifting a Unique Wooden Watch for Him

    January 31, 2018

Valentine’s Day is usually about the girls. We admit, we do love being showered with chocolates, flowers, and gifts, BUT this year we decided to make it all about our husbands instead. Andrew and Garin do SO much for us when it comes to our blog life! Whether its watching Griffin, the dogs, taking photos, running errands…or just putting up with our constant texting 24/7 (sometimes they send each other videos of us texting one another – ha!). They are just the best, and we love them so much, so we wanted to give them something really special for Valentine’s Day! Enter Jord luxury wood watches.

Andrew’s Wood Watch Pick – The Hyde Series (Walnut and Black)

This was an easy choice for Andrew. He loved the minimalist look of the Hyde watch, and was obsessed with the dark wood color. It is the perfect watch for a more casual setting – like date night, or a night out with friends. Too bad we don’t have the same wrist size because I would borrow this one for myself (you can shop women’s watches here)!!

    Our Date Night

Andrew and I typically like to keep Valentine’s Day low key, order takeout, cozy-up on the couch, and watch a movie. This year we have Marshall, so it makes staying home that much more enjoyable. And, since our weeks and weekends are usually jam-packed full of activities, we really enjoy this alone time together. It’s nice to celebrate each other once and awhile! We normally exchange small gifts on the day of, but this year I gave Andrew his a little early so we could share with all of you! I will admit, it made for the perfect opportunity to take cute family photos (shop our Valentine’s Day looks). <3

Laura and I both surprised the boys with their initials on the back of the watches, and it was so fun to see how excited they were! The personal engravings really made the whole experience extra special. The watches also come with cleaning supplies, and this beautiful wooden box for storage purposes.

Garin’s Wood Watch Pick – The Dover Series (Koa and Black)

I knew before Garin ever looked at the options, that this style would be the one he picked. You might say he’s predictable, but really, he just knows what he likes. This particular watch features all the moving parts and gears that make the clock tick. And that’s exactly who Garin is. He needs to know all the details before he does anything. He is my very own Curious George through and through 🙂

If I haven’t hinted to you in the past about Garin, he’s the rugged, outdoorsy-type FOR SURE. He would rather shoot a gun, or drive around looking for geese over anything else. No joke, he really does this-haha! Garin is not one for dressing up, which actually surprises me because he looks so darn cute…plaid or not. Here, he’s featuring an everyday look complete with his favorite Eddie Bauer flannel and Normal Brand baseball cap. Dare I let you in on how often he wears this?? Garin often says, “this brand is for ‘normal guys’ like me!” How original 😉

How We Celebrate All Year Long

As you all know, Garin travels a lot for work. He is typically gone 2-3 weeks a month, which means that when we are together, we cherish the moments we have that much more. It’s almost as if we get to celebrate seeing one another for the first time in a long while when he walks through the door each week. Although Valentine’s Day is just one day a year, we truly have SO much to celebrate all year long. Our situation isn’t ideal, but it’s what makes us, US. It may make us have to work a little harder then most, but the love we share for one another, our son, our family, friends, and this life makes it all worth it.

When Garin took this job 3 years ago, he made a pact with me. Each week before he’d leave, he would buy me a bouquet of flowers. His intention was that by the time the flowers started to wilt and die, that meant he was coming home. (Aww! I still blush just thinking about it) So, no, our Valentine’s Day may not be like most complete with dinner and chocolates (I actually think he’s gone that week!), but our weekends are always filled with so much more! Whether it be hiding away in the house watching movies all day long, or making memories as a family.

    xoxo, Laura
