I can’t believe Christmas is 8 days away. Like whoa, where did the time go? I know we say this every year, but seriously, the holidays popped up OUT.OF.NOWHERE. Nonetheless, they are here, and we’re enjoying it over here at the Harcar household.
Surprisingly, I love the traditional greens and reds. My normal decor is a lot of white, and some blues and grey, but when it comes to holidays, I love to get really festive. Plus, everything really stands out against the neutral palette I already have! I typically swap out some of my everyday decor, but not all of it! I like to intermix items here and there to make it seem more unintentional.
So, go ahead, turn on the holiday music and grab a seat! I’m sharing how I decked out my home this year.
TV Room
These stockings are so special to me! Actually, they’re all I’ve ever known! 50+ years ago, my grandma starting making these stockings for her 7 kids, and their children, AND their children! That’s a whopping 39 stockings (and growing)! What’s neat is that no 2 families have the same stockings. While we have Rudolph, Santa & a Snowman, there’s also Mr. & Mrs. Claus, a Christmas tree, a toy soldier, a candy cane…the list goes on and on. This is one of my favorite things about the holidays, and it’s fun to see them hung on each family’s fireplace each year.
This room’s tree is one of my favorites. It displays all of our ornaments we have gotten over the years. It always brings back awesome memories as we put them up each year. Garin was obviously into the sports, while I was obsessed with Minnie Mouse. I will never get rid of these!
Kitchen
I like to keep things simple in the kitchen. Mostly because I’m a messy cook, and I don’t like a lot of clutter on my countertops. But this view every morning (especially on snowy days) never gets old!
Entryway
Living Room
This room is where I like to display my “nice” ornaments. You might be thinking I’m crazy to even have a tree like this, but believe it or not Griffin was interested in the ornaments (and all the other decorations for that matter!) for a week, and then that was it. It’s been so great! I’m sure you can imagine how worried I was!
Did I mention I love fresh flowers?? You’ll find quite a few poinsettia plants scattered throughout the house this time of year.
Dining Room
Remember my Thanksgiving table decor post? I mentioned how easy the same items would transition perfectly for the holidays. All I did here was throw on a different table runner, and switch the apples out for pinecones!
Wishing you a joyous holiday!
