How many of you love rugs, but hate the cost? Us, us & US! Seriously, why are they so expensive?? If we had a dollar for every rug we ever saw that we just had to have (and then saw the price tag and had to walk away), we’d be rich enough to actually buy one of them-ha! But NO FEAR, we’ve got the perfect brand just waiting to enter your home. We introduce to you, Rugs USA.

If you’ve never heard of this company, you have to check out their website! We don’t even understand how they can get away with such budget-worthy rugs. And here’s the kicker, they’re actually really great quality! So much so, that Laura has purchased 6 rugs from them in the last 2 years. It’s definitely our go-to online rug retailer of choice.

Outside of the price though, we know how overwhelming rug shopping can be…we struggle with it too! But today we’re giving you a crash course on how to find exactly what you’re looking for, and tips to determining the right size rug for your room.

How-to Find the Perfect Rug for Your Space

    Step 1

Have one or two colors in mind. If you don’t give yourself something to go off of, the search will end very fast, making you all sorts of frustrated. Or, you’ll sit on your couch for hours at a time, searching and searching with no end in sight. Breathe… if you aren’t sure where to start with a color, look at what else you have in the room. Are you playing off a family of colors in the room? Are you starting from scratch? We typically find that if you are starting with a blank canvas, the rug is actually a great place to begin. It can be the foundation for the entire room to flow around.

    Step 2

Know your style. What draws you in? Your style should reflect the rest of your home, as well as the architecture and bones of the house itself. Rugs USA makes it very easy to filter through the options by choosing the style, color, fabric, size, AND price. They also offer an option that allows you to take a picture of your space, and see what a rug would look like in it! Simply genius.

    Step 3

Measure your space correctly. Now, this part is tricky! You don’t want the rug too small, and you don’t want it too big either. Lauren learned the hard way.

Tip #1: Always layer. Put your furniture on top of it, even if it’s just a little. It will give the illusion of a seamless presentation vs. stop and go lines.

Tip #2: When determining a size for underneath a dining room table, consider how big the area is once the chairs are pulled out. Take a measuring tape, or painters tape for reference and configure the measurements. That size is the minimum needed for the space. Lauren bought a smaller rug and it ended up being way too small for underneath her table (see photo below). It looks even smaller now that she bought head table chairs. Ugh. Plus, Marshall chewed the corners, so this one was a pretty big fail.

Tip #3: Typical size for your bedroom (underneath the bed) – Queen: 8×10 and King: 9×12.

    Step 4

Look for a coupon code. Rugs USA is literally always running a sale. Besides the awesome deals they offer, they also have a 30-day hassle-free return policy. Thank goodness! That way you can see the rug in your space before fully committing.
