Last week was the first time we have gotten to hang out since May!! Isn’t that crazy? Our summers are so jammed packed with activities, it’s hard to find time to meet up. But if there is one thing that can bring us together, it’s a garden party. One of our favorite local businesses, Blumen Gardens, just had their 30th anniversary and celebrated by hosting a beautiful garden party on their property. It was STUNNING!
The History
If you haven’t heard of Blumen Gardens before, then you must not be from the DeKalb/Sycamore area. However, even if you are from the area, you might not know how Blumen Gardens came to be (we sure didn’t)! It actually started as a love story, how perfect!?! Joel and Joan Barczak met at the local community college (read the entire story here) and ended up getting married and buying a fixer-upper right across the street from what was then, an abandoned factory. Over time, they turned it into a dream business, which is now everyone’s favorite blossoming garden today. They host workshops, events, and even weddings! You can also buy your seasonal annuals and perennials too! You must take a stroll through their retail store if you have the time…so many cute trinkets and home decor items.
The Garden Party
Getting back to the party….it was a fabulous night! They had food trucks, beverages, and live music playing while you explored everything the garden had to offer. We had a blast walking around all dolled up (you can shop our outfits below), smelling all the fresh flowers, and eating from the food trucks. There were so many little kids running around with their ice cream cones in-hand, while their parents enjoyed a cocktail. It was the true epitome of a summer night in a small town. What more could you ask for?
