I can’t believe we’re approaching the 3 month mark with our sweet baby, Hazel. You guys, she is seriously such a good baby. We got lucky with Griffin, and everyone assured me this one would be different…”they always are”, they said. We must have hit the motherload! But seriously, don’t believe people when they say that…they’re just huffy that their babes were hard. That goes for any baby advice…take it with a grain of salt. You do you!
But truth be told, I think it’s all how you approach the situation. Calm, cool and collected is my motto. And if you know me, then you KNOW this is not normally how I am, but somehow becoming a mom back in 2016 gave me that laid back mindset with Griffin, and it’s carried through to Hazel. Which brings me to my next point…what we use to get by with this little.
While I wouldn’t say I’m new to the baby game, its been 3.5 years since I’ve had a newborn, and in that short time, so many more gadgets and gear have released! Navigating the baby market is intense, and overwhelming, so I thought it might be helpful to share what we are loving. My goal this time was to keep everything MINIMAL. We were so blessed with Griffin, and all the gifts/items he received, but it was a lot. There were clothes and products he only wore once, or never used at all. It felt wasteful.
Read on to see my starter list of favorite products thus far, plus some things I’m loving for myself too!
Hazel’s Favorites
Baby Sleep
Snuggle Me Organic Lounger
We did not have this last time, but I wish we would have! We’ve been using this cuddle monster since the day we came home from the hospital, and will plan to use as long as she’ll let us! The padding surrounding it makes them feel like they’re being held and cozy. You can also use in your bed if you plan to co-sleep.
SNOO
THIS IS LIFE. Seriously, the best kept secret that I knew nothing about until this time around. You guys, you need the Snoo. The only reason we got something new for Hazel was because the bassinet Griffin used was recalled. Hazel has been using since we got home from the hospital and loves it. She’s only woken up 2x a night since day 1. It moves and shush’s the babe when they start to cry, and reacts appropriately. Game changer!
Sleep Sack
These are great since you can’t put any extra blankets on baby while in the Snoo. It helps to keep them warm with a onesie or sleeper underneath. Also great for the summer when they just have a onesie on, and you don’t want them to get overheated.
Baby Feeding
Spectra S2 Breast Pump
This is a great pump! It worked great with Griffin, and again with Hazel. It’s the only one I’ve tried, but the reviews are amazing, and solidify my thoughts exactly!
Como Tomo Bottles
I was told to get these bottles because they most resemble and feel like a breast for easy transition. The first time we tried, Hazel did not like these, but has since changed. And I’m glad she did because they are SO easy to clean! They also offer a bigger size for those later months.
Baby Gear
Solly Wrap
I got this with Griffin, who wasn’t much of a cuddler, so it was barely ever used. But, I was able to capture this cute pic of him and I early on. 🙂 Luckily, I’ve been able to wear it a ton with Hazel. She loves to cuddle and be close. It gives a calming effect to baby for their face to be on your chest. She instantly falls asleep. Super easy to wear too.
Bibs Pacifier
For both kids, we held out until the 1 month mark before seeing if they needed a Paci. I hated to push it unless I thought they needed it. Both ended up needing some soothing, so for Griffin we had to try 3 different kinds before finding the right one. For Hazel, I tried these and bam, she was hooked. They simple and come in TONS of colors!
Digital Bath Tub
Seriously, this is genius. We got this with Griffin, and have continued to love it with Hazel. It makes bathing a floppy infant so much easier! It measures and records the babies weight, so it can make adjustments for how much water should be in then tub. Also, it monitors the water temperature and lets you know if its too hot or cold. Bonus: it can be converted into a toddler tub after. 100% worth the price!
Dohm Sound Machine
The best! Bought this when Griffin was born and it JUST zonked out, after almost 4 years. And we left it on all day most of the time. Grabbed another one for Hazel, and have no doubt it will last us another 3-4 years.
Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail
No special bags needed! Just your standard large kitchen bags. Odor-blocking and modern design makes this a registry must-have. Comes in tones of colors. We got with Griffin and never had any stinky rooms!
Baby Clothes
My favorite baby brands of clothes are:
Laura’s Favorites
Bravado Nursing Bra
The best in my opinion! Used with Griffin, and grabbed some more this time around. The fabric is so comfy and breathable too!
Moonlight Pajamas
The softest! But seriously. I stay in these all day, much to my own embarrassment. I wore these in the hospital too. They also comes in a shorts version.
Tula Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm
I didn’t realize how much I needed this before I needed it! This is perfect for when I don’t want to put makeup on, yet I want to look a little alive. It give you a rose glow, and instantly cools and depuffs.
Yeti Tumbler & Mug
Need I say more? Drinking water after delivery is essential! Especially if you’re breast feeding. This bad boy is 30 oz, so I know I have to fill it up 3x a day. Also, love the coffee mug too! I have a tendency of not immediately getting to my coffee these days, so this keeps it hot. Tons of cute new colors for both too!
Belly Bandit Postpartum Wrap
This was my lifesaver after birth with both kids. Ya know that overall jiggly feeling you feel around your midsection after. This helps contain all that! AND helped shrink my tummy faster. I wore it 24/7 all hours of the day except when I showered or worked out. From the day we came home until 8 weeks postpartum. Highly recommend!
Thanks for stopping by! Will add more products as I see fit, and love! 🙂 -Laura
