Last summer, before most people even knew I was pregnant, Laura had graciously offered to throw me a baby shower. I was so touched that she was willing to do that for me because I know how much work it is to put together an event like that…it’s no small feat. Especially if you’re anything like Laura or myself, you can’t help but want to make everything perfect!!!
Well let me tell you, the day came and went, and it was perfect. Even God was smiling and graced us with the perfect snow dust to make it extra dreamy outside. I was surrounded by my closest friends, drinking hot cocoa and feeling like the luckiest mama-to-be in the world. Today, I’m sharing a few of my favorite photos that captured the “Winter Wonderland” feeling of the day – enjoy (and don’t forget, you can pin your favorites to Pinterest for inspiration)!
The Details
Here’s how you know you have a great friend. She leaves up her Christmas trees for the entire month of January just because they are the quintessential decoration for your baby shower (we all know how good it feels to take your tree down after Christmas)! Her house matched the invites (she designed herself) almost too perfectly. It’s like she planned it to be that way or something!? 😉
Everything from the “snowballs” to the white coconut cake (which I ate for days after), contributed to making Baby O’s winter brunch feel like a wonderland. Laura even put out wooden blocks for everyone to decorate, and now I have a whole basket-full for when Baby is older. What a cute idea, right!?
The Balloon Arch
We have to take a moment to talk about how AMAZING this white balloon arch looks. I mean, wow. It was so unexpected, a complete showstopper when you walked it the door, and it also made for a beautiful photo backdrop! Our girlfriend, Kat Willrett from Willrett Flower Co. made it for us (along with the dining room table centerpiece pictured above), and you can see she is quite the talented designer. She is also a rock star florist (for weddings and special occasions), a true farm girl, and she lives for big installations and lush bouquets. A girl after our own heart, that’s for sure. You can check out her work on her website or follow her on Insta for some crazy, beautiful inspiration. I’m already trying to think of what other events I can hire her for, she was so sweet and lovely to work with!!
My People
Andrew did make an appearance to snap a few photos with me, but he isn’t much of the ‘gift-opening’ type, so I didn’t make him stay for the event. Garin, Griffin, and he went to a bar down the road to kill time while us girls did our thing. I ended up inviting my closest friends to this shower, knowing that my mom will be throwing a ‘Sip & See’ once the baby arrives, which will be a full-on family affair. I love my friends so much and it was really special to get to spend time with all of them.
Speaking of my people, all of these beautiful photos were captured by the extremely lovely, Lindsay of Lindsay Rae Photography. You guys….we’re obsessed with her! She is the coolest human (a mom of three – respect), and we felt like we’ve known her forever after just meeting her days before. She is a beauty, fashion, and people lover and it’s clear she is able to tell a story through her images. Plus, she made everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer or for someone to capture new family photos, she is definitely your girl, you can book online here. If you need more convincing, look at these stunning maternity photos she recently did for one of our girlfriends.
I’ll always remember this special day. Thanks for stopping by, friends! xoxo – Lauren
